Plunket Shield 2019/20

The Plunket Shield 2019/20 is the 91st season of the national first-class cricket competition in New Zealand and will be held from October 21, 2019 to March 29, 2020.

format

The teams play eight games in one division against each other. A team receives 12 points for a win and 6 points for a tie (both teams achieve the same number of runs ). If no result is achieved and the game ends in a draw, both teams get 0 points, if the game is canceled, 2 points. Additionally there is the possibility to collect bonus points in the first 110 overs of the first inning . Up to 4 points are awarded for runs and wickets. If the playing time is reduced to one day, a win is rewarded with 6 points, a draw with 3 and a draw with 2 points, bonus points are then not awarded. It is also possible that teams are deducted points if, for example, they play too slowly or the pitch is not properly prepared. At the end of the season, the winner of the division is the winner of the Plunket Shield.
