history

The building is of late Gothic origin and was rebuilt in the renaissance style in the second half of the 16th century and raised by one floor. In the 19th century the house was extensively redesigned. During a later restoration, decorative elements from the Renaissance period were exposed.

description

Exposed portal on the Solní

The representative town house is a three-story plastered building with formerly six and five window axes on a large corner plot. The windows today have unequal heights, are asymmetrical and were only added in the 19th century. The defining element is a bay window on corbels . Two dormers are also more recent. At the Solní, the remains of a portal with a stitch arch and colored decorations were uncovered. The entrance was destroyed by installing a window in the 19th century.

During a restoration, some of the old frames and decorations were exposed again. The corner cuboids in the tooth cut sequence are applied in black and white in the local sgraffito . More sgraffiti framed the former windows and a decorative strip runs around the whole house at the level of the third floor. A niche for a saint figure was destroyed by the installation of a window.

The building encloses a small courtyard on the southeast side. In addition to the fragments of the Renaissance façade, the vaulted cellar and the vaulted rooms on the ground floor and first floor are valuable.

The house is an important architectural and urban planning element in the historical development of the city of Prachatice and was placed under protection as a cultural monument on May 3, 1958, and on October 1, 1981, as part of the urban monument reserve in the Prachatice city center.
