The Point Purvis is a headland on the north coast of South Georgia . It is located 1.5 km southwest of Tønsberg Point on the north bank of Husvik Harbor and marks the western boundary of the entrance to Saami Bay .
Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations mapped it in 1928. It is named after Petty Officer J. Purvis of the Royal Navy , participant in the Discovery Investigations off South Georgia between 1928 and 1930 on the motorboat Alert .
