Poisonblack was a band from Finland whose music style was to be assigned to dark rock .

history

The band was founded in 2000 by Sentenced singer Ville Laihiala and bassist Janne Kukkonen. Since the band originally had the character of a side project for Laihiala, he initially wanted to concentrate exclusively on his position as guitarist. So he brought the Charon singer Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto on board to let him do the singing. The band members of Charon and Sentenced were already known to each other through a joint tour through Finland.

With the addition of drummer Tarmo Kanerva and keyboardist Marco Sneck - both initially only as session musicians - the band recorded their debut album Escapextacy in 2003 , which was published via Century Media . The band then completed a tour in the opening act a. a. by Iron Maiden , Lacuna Coil and Moonspell .

After that, however, the band was quiet again. It wasn't until August 24, 2006 that the band's second album, Lust Stained Despair , was released. In the studio recordings, however, Juha-Pekka Leppäluoto no longer sang, who wanted to concentrate more on Charon again, but Ville Laihiala. In addition, the bass has been newly cast with Antti Remes. In autumn 2006 a European tour took place again with Lacuna Coil. This time, however, the German Lacrimas Profundere were also on tour.

In 2007 Poisonblack performed at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen in Leipzig and at the Summer Breeze Festival in Dinkelsbühl. In 2008 the band toured Europe with the Swedes Dark Tranquility on the "Where Death is most alive" tour.

In 2010 she released her fourth album Of Rust and Bones . A few weeks earlier, the song Buried Alive was released on the band's MySpace page. In October 2010 it was announced that the band would go into the studio with Danish producer Tue Madsen in January 2011 to record the follow-up to Of Rust and Bones . The working title of the new album is provisionally Lead & Roll Vol. 5 .

In November 2010 Poisonblack announced on their official homepage that guitarist Janne Markus had left the band because his "goals and ambitions" could not have been realized with Poisonblack. The band engaged guitarist Antti Leiviskä as session musician for upcoming concerts.

Her sixth album Lyijy was released in September 2013 . On August 23, 2015, singer Ville Laihiala announced the end of the band on Facebook.
