Leopoldine "Poldi" Czernitz-Renn (born on August 21, 1878 in Vienna ) was an Austrian theater and film actress who was active in the first half of the 20th century .

Life

Poldi Czernitz moved to Innsbruck at the age of 18. Her first husband made her embark on a career in theater. She first appeared on a stage in Lindau in 1896 . Further engagements followed in her hometown Innsbruck as well as in numerous other Austrian, German and Swiss cities. From 1904 to 1907 she was a member of the Exl stage . From around 1911 Salzburg became her main place of work. In 1920 at the latest she married the Salzburg official Karl Renn.

At the Salzburg Festival in 1921 and from 1926 to 1936 - under the direction of Max Reinhardt - the artist embodied the role of the debt servant woman in Jedermann am Domplatz (she embodied this role one last time in 1946). In 1937 she played the housekeeper Brigitte Hells in the parish priest of Kirchfeld , the only Austrian film made that year that consistently evaded the racist dictates of the Austrian production companies, which had committed themselves to an agreement with the German Reich , in their films no “Not -Arier "to deal with more.
