Polemistus is a genus of digger wasps (Spheciformes) from the Crabronidae family. Only two species occurin the Palearctic , one of which, Polemistus abnormalis , is also found in Europe. The main distribution area of ​​the genus is tropical Africa and Asia .

features

The genus can be distinguished from the closely related genera Passaloecus and Stigmus, among other things, by the clearly downward converging inner eye rims and its triangular labrum .

Way of life

The way of life has only been explored of a few species. It is known that the nests are made in wood or stalks and the brood is supplied with aphids . The nest closed with a transparent, resin-like substance.
