Costumes of the Poleschuken

Poleschuken ( Ukrainian Поліщуки , Belarusian Палешукі Poleszucy ) are the names of the members of a group of Eastern Slavs . They live mainly in Polesia as well as in western Ukraine . In Ukraine they are counted among the Ukrainians .

The peripheral location of the Poleshuk area against the Ukrainians and Belarusians , their isolation from the political and industrial centers of Ukraine and Belarus, low urbanization and other factors resulted in a considerable amount of customs being preserved in culture and everyday life .

Poleshukes showed the influence of community traditions more than residents of other regions of Ukraine. The community distributed common land, regulated the use of common pastures, forests, meadows, fishing and hunting grounds, controlled the time and type of agricultural work and followed the implementation of the usual legal norms.
