Police Academy is the name of a television series from 1997 that is based on the film of the same name and the film series that resulted from it . However, it was created only a long time after all previous productions. Directed by Robert Radler .
The series essentially consists of a new generation of characters who, however, act in stories with the well-known comedy elements. Only Michael Winslow alias Larvell Jones is left of the original characters and now appears as a trainer.
action
The mayor relaxes the admission requirements for the local police school because the police need young people.
Incapable slobs who have to be accepted promptly apply. The core of the group is the smart Richard Casey, who is not a good role model for his friends at the academy. Among the cadets are the country girl Annie, who is afraid of new relationships because her ex-boyfriends always had terrible accidents, the overweight and slightly stupid Luke Kackley, and the tough Alicia, who shows her past as a member of a street gang. The unusual Tackleberry brothers complete the Chaos team. The instructors and officers are also not a measure of competence and intelligence: Sergeant Rusty Ledbetter is not only at war with Casey, but also has constant problems with his toupee. The academy's commanding officer is the forgetful Stuart Hefilfinger, who is supported by Sergeant Larvell Jones, a gifted sound imitator.
background
- The attempt to implement the films as a television series failed, as did the last film. Only one season with 26 episodes was produced.
- Numerous actors from the original films gave guest performances. David Graf deserves special mention , who was here for the last time Eugene Tackleberry before he died of a heart attack in 2001. Art Metrano , who played Mauser in the original films, returns as Sheriff Meiser . Bubba Smith played the role of Moses Hightower for the last time before he passed away in August 2011.
- The series ran on German television three times within a year. In 1999 she was initially employed by DF1 Krimi & Co. , the specialty channel for crime novels on what was then digital television DF1 . In the summer it was shown on ProSieben and again in the fall on Premiere Comedy . In Austria it was broadcast twice by ORF 1 , once each in 1999 and 2000.
