Political psychology
Political psychology is an interdisciplinary science for the investigation of the connections between power , exercise of power and domination and human subjectivity - the motivation of individuals, groups (including peoples) and institutions to exercise power and domination.
The term was introduced by Adolf Bastian in 1860 . Since 1993, the journal for political psychology has devoted itself to researching the mutual interdependence of political behavior, individual psychology and the political context. Two of the most important representatives of more modern political psychology in the 20th century were Klaus Horn from Frankfurt am Main and Peter Brückner from Hanover.
Modern political psychology, however, explores topics such as electoral politics, the shaping of public politics, leadership , decision-making by elites, intergroup relationships, personality and political ideology , political violence and conflict resolution.
Include positions question the origin of racism , determinants of electoral behavior, subjective determinants of wars , the role of leaders or the emotional legacies of National Socialism . Thus it becomes clear that political psychology is a theoretical, methodologically diverse, geographically widespread and widely applicable discipline that also has the potential to better understand and master the urgent challenges of the modern world.
A particularly promising area in this area is research into the evolutionary , behavioral , neurological and hormonal foundations of political behavior. Particularly when it comes to a better understanding of individual political action, it is important to examine internal components such as personality , cognition , affects , identity , interactions between the individual and the environment, characteristics of the surrounding milieu , individual experiences, social norms , communication processes and cultural traditions .
The Political Psychology is deferred isolated from Psycho policy that deals with the application of psychology in the policy the same busy or out of view.
