Police Music Graz

Polizeimusik Graz was founded in 1920 by Josef Hexmann, who directed the musical fortunes of the band into the 1950s. He was replaced by Alfred Kreuzmann, who created a classical ball orchestra from the wind orchestra, initially composed of 25 musicians by Hexmann, which was very popular at the time.

The Graz Police Music achieved a high level of awareness at the Strauss-Lanner Waltz Evening, as the ball of the Graz Police Sports Association (PSV Graz) was called in the early years. The first ball took place on February 16, 1953, at that time still jointly organized by PSV Graz and Police Music Graz. Kreuzmann conducted his musicians with the violin, like Johann Strauss once did . One of the highlights of the Graz Police Music is the recording of the long-playing record “200 Years of the Graz Police ”, on which not only the wind orchestra but also the big band and wind ensemble can be heard. In 1995 a CD with the title Music 2000 was recorded under the direction of Kapellmeister Josef Malli . In addition, they participated in CD recordings (including 150 years of the Gendarmerie for Austria ).
