Barry schwieg is a German crime film by Hans Knötzsch from 1979. The television film was released as the 61st episode of the film series Polizeiruf 110 .

action

After more than five years in prison for robbery, Gerhard Wagenknecht is released early. He goes to his wife Eva, who built a prosperous cosmetic studio on her own during his imprisonment. She tells Gerhard that she will now divorce him. She has long since made a new friend in TV mechanic Andreas Hahn. Gerhard moves in with his father. Shortly after the son's arrest, he hastily sold the family's house because he no longer wanted to stay in the village. That very house was broken into in the absence of the new owner Heinz Damm. The perpetrator ransacked the entire house. Heinz 'neighbor Irma Werner surprises the perpetrator and is knocked down by him. A man flees the house and the German shepherd Barry strikes. A little later, the police are informed anonymously about the break-in. Irma Werner is taken to hospital with internal injuries, where she dies a little later.

Lieutenant Vera Arndt begins the investigation, supported by Lieutenant Jürgen Huebner and occasionally gets advice from Captain Peter Fuchs. Vera Arndt has a special relationship with the crime scene: The Gerhard Wagenknecht case was her first case with the criminal police at the time. Gerhard Wagenknecht had reported to her at the time that he had burned the 80,000 marks stolen from the robbery, and Vera Arndt had believed him after burned bills were found. Now someone in the house seems to have looked for the money. This person must also have known Barry's word of obedience, as Barry did not bark when he broke in. The dog only barked at a man who was fleeing, as a neighbor can tell from time to time, and the police immediately received the emergency call. Investigators are now focusing on people who might know the word of obedience while also trying to find out if the money from the robbery still exists, and if so, where.

Gerhard is surprised when the investigators tell him about the break-in into the house and the death of the woman. The investigators also question Günter Helm, who shared a cell with Gerhard in prison. At first he does not want to testify, but after a trick by Vera Arndt, he admits that he was at the house. The door was open and Irma Werner was already on the floor. He ran away in a panic because he didn't want to be involved in a murder. Günter admits that he was looking for the money that should be on the property, as Gerhard accidentally betrayed it in an argument. Günter reports that he had called the police about the break-in. Later he remembered a detail that one of Damms's neighbors mentioned. According to the neighbor, a car was parked a little away from the property. Günter, in turn, saw the car drive past him at high speed. It says that it was a white Trabant station wagon with a label on the side. Jürgen Hübner saw such a car: It belongs to Eva's friend Andreas Hahn. Jürgen Huebner also finds out that Eva has financial difficulties because a loan for the beauty salon has to be paid off.

The evidence is not sufficient for Andreas to be arrested. Nevertheless, he is summoned and brought to the Damms property by Jürgen Huebner. He should enter the property. A short time later, Damm lets go of Barry on Andreas, who brings the dog to a stop with the correct word of obedience. It is now clear that Andreas could have been the culprit. When he learns that Irma Werner is dead, he confesses everything. He found out that the money was in the house and looked for it. Irma Werner surprised him when he broke in and held on to the jacket. He then hit her and she fell. He did not want her death. He wanted to steal the money out of love for Eva, just as Gerhard once stole the money in order to fulfill Eva's dream of having her own cosmetic studio. Eva gets angry and has to be held back by the investigators. Only now does Gerhard go to the dog kennel. Wordlessly he fetches the wrapped bills of the theft from a lower part of the Fressnapf that was closed with a lid.

It was the 61st episode in the film series Polizeiruf 110 . Captain Peter Fuchs investigated in his 37th case, Oberleutnant Jürgen Hübner in his 27th case and Lieutenant Vera Arndt in her 38th case. Critics called the case politically and socially harmless: “The motive is greed, the background 'petty-bourgeois' [...] such a story could take place at any time and in any place. Hans Knötzsch [...] staged the not particularly exciting film plot in a hand-crafted manner, whereby he particularly tried to focus on 'action'. "
