Polka Dot Slim

Polka Dot Slim (actually Vincent Monroe , born December 9, 1919 in Woodsville (Mississippi) ; † June 22, 1981 ) was an American rhythm & blues and blues musician ( vocals , harmonica ).

Polka Dot Slim, who also recorded under the pseudonym Mr. Calhoun and was considered one of the last representatives of the country blues in New Orleans , worked for several years in the local blues scene. For JD Miller in Crowley he recorded under his real name as "Polka Dot Slim" in New Orleans in 1964 for the Instant label, the songs Ain't Broke, Ain't Hungry and It's A Thing You Gotta Face . John Broven described the songs in his book Rhythm and Blues in New Orleans Polka Dot Slim's Music as "the dirtiest blues in a long time". He died forgotten in 1981 on the west coast of the USA .
