The Pollonius is a 115 meter high telecommunications tower in the type FMT 15 of the former Deutsche Bundespost (today Deutsche Funkturm , a subsidiary of Deutsche Telekom) in Cologne-Poll ( Porz district ).
The non-public tower was built in 1990 and is next to the radio to spread a radio program in VHF range. The name Pollonius alludes to the "big brother", the Cologne telecommunications tower Colonius . The Pollonius broadcasts Radio Berg directed to the northeast at 99.7 MHz with an effective radiation power of 0.5 kW for the urban area of Bergisch Gladbach.
Due to the sharp directional radiation and the location on the eastern edge of the city, the signal can only be received to a limited extent in the Cologne city area. Radio Berg can also use the Leverkusen-Opladen transmitter 16 kilometers to the north to 96.9 MHz (0.5 kW ERP) and the transmitter 30 kilometers to the east in Lindlar on Berg Brungerst to 105.2 MHz (4 kW ERP) in Cologne to be received.
