The Polish Military Police ( Polish : Żandarmeria Wojskowa ) is the military police of the armed forces of the Republic of Poland established in 1990 . It is independent of the other branches of the armed forces .

history

It was erected after the dissolution of Wojskowa Służba Wewnętrzna of the former People's Republic of Poland . Its roots go back through Wojskowa Służba Ochrony Powstania during the Warsaw Uprising in World War II to the order units of the armed forces of Poland-Lithuania .

organization

The Żandarmeria Wojskowa is divided into a headquarters , two special units (in Warsaw and Mińsk Mazowiecki ). Ten regular associations, two departments and 45 police stations until 2011.
