Poly (cyclohexene oxide) is a thermoplastic polyether. It is not used industrially, but primarily serves as a model system in research. The copolymerization with carbon dioxide for the production of a polycarbonate (e.g. poly (cyclohexane carbonate)) has been studied intensively .

Manufacturing

Poly (cyclohexene oxide) can be produced from cyclohexene oxide with the aid of various catalysts in ring-opening , cationic polymerization .

The course of the polymerization was observed via the activated chain end mechanism and via the activated monomer mechanism.

Poly (cyclohexene oxide) was characterized using common methods of polymer chemistry . Its M n is about 50,000 when synthesized by organoaluminum catalysts.
