Pomeranian narrow-gauge railways
In the north of Poland are the remains of the once numerous narrow-gauge railways in what was then the province of Pomerania . Its construction took place after the Prussian Small Railroad Act had been passed by the House of Representatives in 1892 .
history
The fact that more than two thirds of the small railroad lines in Pomerania were laid out in narrow gauge , more than half of them in a gauge of less than one meter, speaks in favor of the efforts to use the money for the construction and operation of the railways as economically as possible . In 1940, of the 1,590 km of small railroad lines in Pomerania, which at that time belonged to the Pomeranian State Railways , 490 km were normal gauge, 529 km were meter gauge, 545 km were 750 mm gauge and 26 km were 600 mm gauge.
In Pomerania, east of the Oder , the company Lenz & Co GmbH built routes for five independent small railway companies:
- Kolberger Kleinbahn , opening June 1, 1895: Regenwalde – Roman – Kolberg, Gross Jestin – Stolzenberg (Polish: Resko – Rymań– Kołobrzeg , Gościno– Sławoborze )
- Regenwalder Kleinbahnen , opening July 26, 1896: Labes – Daber ( Łobez –Dobra )
- Saatziger Kleinbahnen , opening: January 14, 1895: Stargard – Nörenberg ( Stargard –Ińsko )
-
Greifenberger Kleinbahn , opening: July 1st, 1896:
- Greifenberg – Seebad Horst – Fischerkathen – Treptow / Rega
( Gryfice –Niechorze – Pogorzelica– Trzebiatów ) - Greifenberg – Gülzow – Kantreck – Stepenitz
( Gryfice –Golczewo – Łożnica – Stepnica ) - Treptow / Rega – Deep
( Trzebiatów –Mrzeżyno ) - Greifenberg – Dummadel – Treptow / Rega
( Gryfice –Tąpadły– Trzebiatów ) - Dummadel – Mühlenbruch
( Tąpadły – Skrzydłowo )
- Greifenberg – Seebad Horst – Fischerkathen – Treptow / Rega
- Stolper Bahn (750 mm and 1435 mm, no longer operated by Poland after World War II )
In addition, the Munich locomotive factory Krauss & Co laid out the narrow-gauge lines for the
- Köslin – Belgarder Bahnen (750 mm, changed to 1000 mm in 1951, line Koszalin - Białogard ) and the
- Schlawer Kleinbahn (750 mm, mostly converted to standard gauge in 1934).
In 2000, the still in operation Pomeranian narrow-gauge railways (Stargard-Daber, Greifenberg-Fischerkathen and Köslin-Schwellin) were subordinated to the Dyrekcja Kolei Dojazdowych (Railway Directorate ) in Warsaw with a branch in Stargard.
The museum train Greifenberg – Fischerkathen ( Gryfice – Pogorzelica ), sometimes under steam, is the only line that is still in operation for around three months a year. The inventory was bought by the municipality of Rewal in 2003/2004. Due to the bridge being damaged , it has not been possible to travel to the terminus Treptow / Rega ( Trzebiatów ) for a long time.
