Pongsaklek Sitkanongsak ( Thai พง ษ์ ศักดิ์ เล็ก ศิษย์ คน อง ศักดิ์ , real name Pongsaklek Wonjongkam - พงศกร วัน จง คำ even Pongsaklek Singwangcha * 11. August 1977 in the district of Bua Yai of Nakhon Ratchasima ) is a Thai boxer and former two-time WBC -World champion in flyweight.

Professional career

Pongsaklek started boxing in 1994 at the age of 17 and lost two development fights against the Filipino Jerry Pahayahay in 1995 and 1996, one of them prematurely.

In March 1997 he won against Mzukisi Sikali by technical knockout in the first round. On March 2, 2001 he was able to win the WBC flyweight title through a first-round TKO against the undefeated Malcolm Tunacao from the Philippines . He has had this result several times, although he is actually not very powerful with an average KO rate of 50%. Pongsaklek is a very good starter who was able to surprise opponents early on several times. In 2002 he won against the Japanese Daisuke Naitō in just 34 seconds, the fastest ever knockout in the history of flyweight championships.

In a non-title fight against Ronnie Canete (balance 18-15-2) in 2004, he was on the ground, which, together with his knockout defeat, indicates rather moderate taker skills.

He was then able to defend his title seventeen times against mediocre opponents, almost always only in his native Thailand.

In July 2007 he finally lost his title after a unanimous decision in his third meeting with the Japanese Daisuke Naito. He fought his next two fights against opponents in the build-up. The rematch against Naito finally took place on March 8, 2008 in Japan. This fight ended in a draw.

After he was able to win his next seven fights, he rose on March 27 with the undefeated Japanese title holder of the WBC, Kōki Kameda , in the ring. He won this fight on points.
