The Poppelesbach is a brook in the municipality of St. Jakob in Defereggen ( Lienz district ). The stream rises north of the Seespitzhütte and flows east of the village of Erlsbach into the Schwarzach .

course

The Poppelesbach rises north of the Seespitzhütte (also Frelitzalm) or south of Oberseitsee and Kauschkahorn on the steep southern flanks of the Panargenkamm. It flows in a southerly direction through alpine terrain past the Seespitzhütte and reaches the tree line at around 1950 meters above sea level. As a result, the Poppelesbach falls down a forest ravine and crosses under the Defereggentalstraße shortly before the mouth . To the east of Erlsbach, the Poppelesbach finally joins the Schwarzach on the left.
