Poppo II (Istria)

Count Poppo II (* around 1065; † 1098/1101? / 1103?) From the House of Weimar-Orlamünde was Margrave of Istria (1090-1093). Some sources also refer to him as the Margrave of (Lower) Carinthia , Carniola and the Mark an der Sann .

Life

Poppo's father was Ulrich I of Weimar-Orlamünde († 1070), his mother Sophia of Hungary , the daughter of King Bélas I. He married Richgard († around 1130), daughter of Engelbert I of Spanheim († 1096). Poppo II supported Salier and died in 1098 without male descendants.
