Popular electronics

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Popular electronics was a magazine from Germany with the focus on hobby electronics , which was published from 1976 to 1983 by Derpe-Verlag in Overath . Vogel Verlag took over the magazine in the early 1980s .

concept

The magazine contained basic articles on electronics and, above all, detailed handicraft instructions. Circuit boards and complete kits were available for these , with the transparent printed layouts you could expose and etch your circuit boards yourself.

Topics (selection)

  • Basic article "How does it work?", For example diodes of all kinds, OPAMPS , digital amplifiers, etc.
  • The popular corner was written by Wolfgang Back .
  • The legendary TTL trainer from 1978 consisted of several boards with different functions, which were connected by cables with plug contacts. This allowed the working of many TTL ICs of the 74xx series to be researched and demonstrated.
  • The hit parade: From a list of several dozen electronic circuits, the readers were allowed to select the most sought-after ones, which were then published in the booklet with assembly instructions and circuit board layout.

Frequency of publication

The A5 booklet, which appeared every two months (from 1978 monthly), cost 3 DM , later the format was changed to DIN A4 and the price to 5 DM. The optionally available collection folders each held a year.
