Christian Gottlob Steinmüller
Christian Gottlob Steinmüller (born September 25, 1792 in Arnoldsgrün ; † May 8, 1864 in Grünhain ) was a German organ builder .
Live and act
The son of pastor Johann Gottlob Steinmüller from Arnoldsgrün in the Vogtland region began a six-year apprenticeship with his uncle, the famous master organ builder Johann Gottlob Trampeli , on January 15, 1806 . Testimonials prove that he was “inquisitive and hardworking”, so that in 1812, after the sudden death of his master, he was entrusted with the completion of the organ for the Grünhain Nikolaikirche . This masterpiece made him known beyond the Ore Mountains , so that the Grünhainers were able to persuade him to set up his own organ building workshop in the village. He settled down in Hospitalgasse. His workshop received another 25 orders before it closed, some of which are still in existence in the 21st century.
Since 1818 he was married to Wilhelmine Friedericke Hilliger.
