The Main North Road (A1) in Gepps Cross , after the intersection with the Grand Junction Road (NA16), to Port Wakefield Road. As far as Port Wakefield the road has been expanded to four lanes and has bypasses of all the small towns through which it had previously passed. The old bypass of Port Wakefield is being built over with rest houses and other shops, so that the demand for a new bypass has arisen further east.

In 2011, a road upgrade including a widening of Port Wakefield Road between Salisbury Highway (A18) and Waterloo Corner Road was completed as part of the Northern Expressway project.
