Portall is a Dutch death and thrash metal band that was formed in 2003.
history
The band was founded in February 2003 by guitarist and singer Rutger Wildeman, drummer Jeroen vd Kamp and bassist Jeffrey Wennekes in a recording studio in Zwolle . There was also a second guitarist present, who was replaced by Peter Haverkamp shortly afterwards. After a few rehearsals, the band recorded their first demo in April 2003, followed by their first live performance a year later. A second demo followed in October. In 2003 and 2004 the group took part in various band events, winning some of them, which helped the band to further appearances. In 2005, the band won the Metal Battle , which allowed the band to record their first EP In the Absence of Light , which was recorded within a week at Harrow Studio . In 2006 and 2007 concerts followed in the Netherlands and Belgium together with Hatesphere , One Man Army and the Undead Quartet , Legion of the Damned , Sinister and Vomitory . In 2007 the band reached a contract with Under Her Black Wings , a sub-label of Freebird Records . The rest of the year and the following year the band worked on their debut album, which was recorded at Harrow Studio. The album Code Black was released on January 31, 2009.

The band plays a mixture of classic Thrash and Death Metal, with the use of numerous tempo changes being characteristic.
