The Pizzo d'Andolla is despite its height of 3654 m above sea level. M. in the middle of all the four-thousand-meter peaks of the Valais Alps, a distinctive border summit between Switzerland and Italy . The mountain is located east of the Swiss town of Saas-Almagell .
Its northwest ridge connects the Pizzo d'Andolla over the Portjenhorn ( 3567 m ) and the Zwischenbergen Pass with the south ridge of the Weissmies .
The two peaks are known under the name Portjengrat also as a climbing area in the area of the Almageller hut. The actual Portjen ridge, however, is the southwest ridge on the Pizzo d'Andolla.
