The Postsportverein Görlitz e. V. was founded on February 20, 1949 as BSG Post Görlitz in Görlitz , Saxony .

The BSG Post Görlitz was active in football , table tennis and chess . In table tennis, the club played in the second highest division of the GDR. The bowling department was founded in 1951. The swimming and hiking department also followed in the 1950s . The gymnastics department was added later. With the end of the GDR , the “BSG Post Görlitz” became the “Postsportverein Görlitz e. V. ". Cycling and volleyball were then included in the club's sports program. Today the club is the sports club with the largest number of members in the city of Görlitz.

Hockey has been offered by Post since January 1979. The tradition of this department goes back to the founding on May 30, 1920 at " STC 06 ", whose hockey players merged in 1933 with the "Görlitzer HC" founded in 1923 to form "SC Rot-Weiß Görlitz". The SC Rot-Weiß, based on Schenkendorffplatz east of the Neisse , won the Silesian championship several times. There was also a hockey department at the " ATV" . During the GDR era until 1979, Energie Görlitz was initially home to hockey enthusiasts from 1946 onwards, with Motor Görlitz changing the carrier in 1950.

Post SV Görlitz is now active in the areas of swimming, hiking, table tennis, hockey, cycling, football, gymnastics, bowling, gymnastics and volleyball .

The association has been organizing the "Around the State Crown" competition, which has been taking place since 1920 (without interruption from 1975 except for 2002).
