The Posthof is a monument in the Regensburg district of Galgenberg with the addresses Friedenstraße 28, 30 and 32, Galgenbergstraße 4, Schikanederstraße 2, 2a and 2b, as well as for the three interior new buildings Galgenbergstraße 2a, 2b and 2c.

History and architecture

The Posthof was 1925-1927 as Kraftpost workshop Regensburg (depot and workshop for post buses and vehicles for the delivery service) from the main post office built in Regensburg and thus reminiscent of the heyday of the force postal system . In addition, the building complex in the wing on Friedenstrasse contained post office servants' apartments, as the Deutsche Reichspost as well as the Deutsche Reichsbahn and many companies built their own housing for their employees at this time due to the general lack of living space.

The three wings of the complex, which is open to the west, are two-storey on Schikanederstrasse and three-storey on Friedenstrasse because of the rising terrain with the same ridge height. Only the north-eastern corner wing is four-storey and thus sets an urban accent oriented towards the approach from the city center via the Galgenberg Bridge. All components are connected to hipped roofs covered, the road facade of the living tract at the Friedensstraße is by staircase - risalits structured and provided with a decorative facade decoration.

Todays use

The Posthof was renovated in the 2000s. In the process, three new buildings with a glass-aluminum facade, planned by the architects Schumann & Partenfelder, were built in its inner courtyard. The building now has a total of 16,000 m² of office space and an underground car park with 250 parking spaces. Among other things, the LBS Oberpfalz sales department , a Berlitz language school and the Agilis transport company have their headquarters there. In June 2012, the ensemble was sold by Kristensen Properties to JP Commercial.
