The name goes back to the high court of the imperial city , which was located here. The gallows was torn down in 1803. A plot of land southeast of the intersection of Haydnstrasse and Galgenbergstrasse, i.e. at the beginning of Regerstrasse, can be identified as the location of the gallows ( ). Many drawings from the Middle Ages and copper engravings from the modern era have handed down the location and appearance of the gallows. The foundation consisted of a strong square wall, which was approx. 7 m long and almost 4 m high. At the four corners there were pillars on which the crossbars rested. Hooks were attached here on which the executioner did his work. The city coat of arms was affixed to the wall of the gallows. The University of Regensburg and the East Bavarian Technical University of Regensburg are also located on the area of the city district . World icon
