The Ostenviertel is the 10th district of Regensburg . The city district is located south of the Danube and east of the city center. The Ostenviertel stretches from the former eastern bastion of the medieval city wall through the city extensions, especially in the 19th century, through the districts of Hohes Kreuz and Irlmauth to the outskirts of the parts of Irl and Kreuzhof , which belonged to the municipality of Barbing until the municipal reform in 1978 . The oldest surviving building in the small town of Kreuzhof is the Romanesque Kreuzhof chapel . The Ostenviertel includes large industrial areas, including a plant ofContinental AG , a Siemens equipment factory, a decommissioned Südzucker AG plant and the port of Regensburg (west, oil and east ports ). After 2000, large specialist furniture stores were also established on the city limits near Irl, probably also to counteract the migration of purchasing power to the surrounding area. At the western end of the port, the IT-Speicher, a technology and start-up center for companies in the IT sector, has been built in recent years. Around 50 companies have now settled there, and the facility is constantly being expanded. There are many large and small collections of residential developments between the commercial settlements.
