Panagiotes Potagos
Panagiotes Potagos (* 1838 in Greece ; † 1903 ) was an explorer .
Panagiotes Potagos completed his training as a doctor, but since 1867 has devoted himself almost continuously to exploring foreign countries. He moved through Persia via Herat to Kabul , where he stayed for a longer period, then through Badachschan , over the Pamir plateau and through Xinjiang to Uliassutai and over Gulja and through Siberia back to Europe. A second trip took him through India and Persia back to Kabul, whereupon he turned to Egypt in 1876 and via Chartum to the upper Nile and the Uelle river basin , which he crossed far to the south.
