The Potter Peak is a turn 1650  m high mountain in the east of the West Antarctic Ellsworthlands . It rises in the Sweeney Mountains 10 km east of Mount Jenkins .

Participants of the American Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1947-1948) discovered him during an overflight. The United States Geological Survey mapped it using its own surveys and aerial photographs by the United States Navy between 1961 and 1967. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the mountain in 1968 after Christopher J. Potter, a glaciologist at Byrd Station between 1965 and 1966.
