Veronika Povilionienė (* 18th November 1946 in Kareivonys , Rajon Lazdijai ) is a Lithuanian musician, folk - singer .

Life

After graduating from the Kapčiamiestis Middle School near Lazdijai in 1964 , Povilionienė graduated from the Vilniaus Universitetas Faculty of History and Philology in 1976 . Her thesis was on the folk songs of Adutiškis ( Švenčionys Rajongemeinde ). From 1974 to 1986 Povilionienė worked as a singer in the Folk Music Theater and then in the Lithuanian Open Air Museum and in the Center of Ethno Culture in Kaunas . Since 1991 she has directed the Blezdinga song club . From 2002 Povilionienė worked as a senior specialist in the Center for Lithuanian Folk Culture and as an event manager in the Vilnius Teachers House .

Povilionienė wrote down several folk songs in the Dzūkija region . She sang with the multi-instrumentalist Petras Vyšniauskas and had many concerts with him.

Povilionienė is married to the diplomat Vidmantas Povilionis .
