Pozzi Escot

(Olga) Pozzi Escot (born October 1, 1933 in Lima , Peru ) is an American composer .

Escot studied from 1954 to 1957 at the Juilliard School of Music in New York City and then until 1960 at the Musikhochschule Hamburg with Philipp Jarnach , William Bergsma and Andrés Sás Orchassal . She was a guest composer at the Music Center in Tanglewood / Massachusetts and directed the New Event Ensemble concert series in Boston and Space, Time and Sound .

She was a professor at Wheaton College and the New England Conservatory , President of the International Society of Hildegard von Bingen Studies , Director of Tufts University Talloires International Composers Conference and, since 1980, editor-in-chief of Sonus magazine . Escot wrote several music theory writings, including Sonic Design: The Nature of Sound and Music (with Robert Cogan ) and composed works predominantly for chamber music and several piano pieces.
