The 1992 presidential election in Romania took place in two rounds on September 27 and October 11, 1992. In the first round, Ion Iliescu from the “Democratic Front for National Salvation” (FDSN, today PSD ) and Emil Constantinescu , the candidate for the “Democratic Convention” - a larger bourgeois party alliance - received the most votes. In the runoff election, Iliescu was able to prevail clearly against Constantinescu.
