Preceptor cliff

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Preceptor Cliff is the only steady island in the Rappbodestausee in the German Harz low mountain range in the Harz district , Saxony-Anhalt .

The rocky preceptor cliff is located in the Harz / Saxony-Anhalt Nature Park, around 4 km north-northeast of Hasselfelde, around 380 m north-northeast of the summit of the Eichenberg (around  520  m above sea  level ) in the middle section of the Rappbode reservoir on the Rappbode.

Its summit, overgrown by some trees and some scrub, rises a few meters above the water of the main arm of the reservoir (along the Rappbode) when it is full of water. When the water level is low, the cliff can sometimes be reached by dry means, such as in October 2003.
