Prachin Buri ( Thai : ปราจีนบุรี , also reproduced as Prachinburi ) is the capital of the Prachin Buri province in the eastern region of central Thailand . Prachin Buri is also the capital of the district ( Amphoe ) Mueang Prachin Buri .

location

Prachin Buri is located on the eastern edge of the central plain and is about 90 kilometers from the capital Bangkok . The area is criss-crossed by numerous canals, the khlongs .

Economy and Transport

The main product of the fertile environment is rice .

Prachin Buri has a train station on the East Railway from Bangkok Hua Lamphong to Aranyaprathet .

history

The area was already populated in prehistoric times, as finds show.

Prachin Buri is an ancient foundation of the Mon people and even after the conquest by the Khmer in the 10th century the city retained its importance as it was on an important trade route from India via Cambodia to China.

  • Dam - in the vicinity of the city, built by the Khmer King Jayavarman around 1200 to ensure regular irrigation of the fertile land.
