Prebbleton is a town in the Selwyn District of Canterbury on the South Island of New Zealand .
geography
The place is located about 12 km southwest of the city center of Christchurch , but is no longer part of its urban area despite its proximity to Christchurch . To the north is the Hornby district of Christchurch and to the south the city of Lincoln is only 7 km away.
history
The place was founded in 1855 when the Prebble brothers settled in the area. It has always been an agricultural area, and there are numerous orchards and olive groves in the vicinity.

In the 2013 census, the town had 2,319 inhabitants, 26.4% more than in the 2006 census.
