from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The seminary of St. Michael in Hildesheim is a former training center for Vicar indoor and vicars of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hanover .

history

The seminar was built in the area of the former Benedictine monastery of St. Michael at the Michaeliskirche in Hildesheim. The establishment took place largely at the instigation of the then curator of the preacher's seminary at the Erichsburg , Pastor Kurt Degener , and the Oberlandeskirchenrat Christhard Mahrenholz .

The Predigerseminar St. Michael was the successor to the Predigerseminar on the Erichsburg, which was initially supposed to be closed in 1953, but then continued to operate until 1971. Nevertheless, the board of trustees of the previous seminary at Erichsburg was transferred to Hildesheim. The valuable library, which contained several incunabula and numerous prints from the 16th and 17th centuries, was moved there. The new seminary was inaugurated on December 6, 1953 by Regional Bishop Hanns Lilje .

Well-known alumni were regional bishop Horst Hirschler , regional superintendent and episcopal vicar Hans-Hermann Jantzen , regional superintendent and abbot Hans-Christian Drömann as well as Hamburg's chief pastor Axel Denecke .

In 2002 the house was closed and the building was converted into a center for worship and church music .
