Prevot Iceland ( Spanish Isla Prevot , in the United Kingdom Tangent Iceland ) is a small and rocky island in the Wilhelm Archipelago off the west coast of Graham Lands on the Antarctic Peninsula . It is the northernmost of the Wauwermans Islands and is located 800 m northeast of Miller Island .
Participants of an Argentine Antarctic expedition carried out from 1953 to 1954 named it as Isla Fernando . Another Argentine expedition (1956-1957) was named after Lieutenant Prevot, commander of a mobile unit of the Argentine Air Force in Antarctica , who died on duty. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names translated this designation into English in 1965. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee, however, named it after its geographical position on the south side of Bismarck Street .
