Deutscher Drucker is the oldest German-language specialist magazine for the printing industry . First published in 1894 as a German book and lithographic printer , the title had to stop its publication during the Second World War , but was re-established in Stuttgart in 1965 by Kurt Kohlhammer . In 1991 it was combined with the trade journal Papier und Druck , published in Leipzig .

The publisher is Deutscher Drucker Verlag, a branch of Ebner Media Group GmbH & Co. KG. The editorial office is located in Ostfildern near Stuttgart. The magazine was last relaunched in November 2009 . Among other things, it received a new content structure and a new magazine format (230 mm × 300 mm).

Deutscher Drucker Verlagsgesellschaft publishes other specialist publications for the printing industry (for example the specialist journal Grafische Palette, which is published four times a year ) and operates the IVW- checked Internet portal print.de .

Characteristic

The magazine is a specialist magazine for the printing and media industry and all related areas. It is the only German-language specialist printing magazine to appear 24 times a year. Deutscher Drucker is conceptually divided into a current section with news and management information and a technology section that contains reports, interviews and technical articles. In terms of content, the prepress , the printing processes offset printing , digital printing , screen printing , gravure printing , flexographic printing and pad printing as well as postpress are dealt with. Another section deals with the "Customers & Markets" area of ​​printing companies.

The German printer is the sole German member of the European information pool Eurographic Press (EP), an association of specialist journals from 14 European countries. The specialist magazine has also been the official information organ of the Association of Executives in the Printing Industry and Information Processing Association since the 1970s . V. (FDI).

The magazine is aimed at specialists and executives, technical college and university students, professional users as well as the entire technical and commercial management of the print and media industry.

Print & Media Awards

In 2015, the two most renowned industry competitions in the German-speaking printing industry, the "Druck & Medien Awards" (first awarded in 2005) and the "PrintStars" (first awarded in 2004), were combined under the umbrella of the Deutscher Drucker Verlagsgesellschaft (Ostfildern near Stuttgart) as the Druck & Medien Awards. These industry awards are given in different categories every autumn and recognize outstanding print products and the competencies behind them, companies and people in the printing and media industry. The award ceremony will take place at a gala in Berlin .
