Privat Livemont (actually Henri Antoine Théodore Livemont , born October 9, 1861 in Schaerbeek , † October 4, 1936 ibid) was a Belgian painter, fresco , poster, sgraffito , glass window and mosaic artist of Art Nouveau .

He began his studies at the art school of Saint-Josse-ten-Noode with Louis Hendrickx. He then spent the period from 1883 to 1889 in Paris , where he took part in the decoration of the town hall and the Théâtre de la Porte Saint-Martin .

His first works were under the influence of Symbolism , but from the early 1890s Privat-Livemont turned to Art Nouveau, in which he created his most significant works. He was best known as a poster artist, mainly creating advertising posters for beverage and food manufacturers. He also designed textiles and glass windows.

In collaboration with the architect Henri Jacobs, he decorated the facades of many Brussels houses and schools, such as the Josaphat School, with frescoes and sgraffito.

For the Brussels department store “Grande Maison de Blanc” (32–34 Rue du Marché aux Poulets) he created a series of paintings on ceramic plates in the niches of the facades in 1897.

Privat Livemont dealt with photography, including the colored autochrome plates. He supplied drawings and photographs to magazines such as “Le Journal Illustré”. With the end of the Art Nouveau era around 1910, his works were less and less popular.
