Prix Goncourt / biography
The Prix Goncourt de la biographie Edmonde Charles-Roux is a French literary prize of the Académie Goncourt , which was founded in 1980 and is awarded for biographies . It is intended to complement the Prix Goncourt for novels. The award is given annually at the beginning of June from among four nominated works and has since been renamed in honor of the French writer Edmonde Charles-Roux (1920–2016), winner of 1966 for the best novel and member of the Académie Goncourt. The Prix Goncourt de la biographie Edmonde Charles-Roux is endowed with 4500 euros by the city of Nancy and 3800 euros by the Center national du livre and is awarded in Nancy.
Award winners
Works from the publisher Grasset (five victories) were awarded most frequently , followed by Fayard (four), Gallimard and Seuil (three successes each).
