ProFonds

proFonds is a Swiss umbrella association of non-profit foundations and associations of all types of activity and financing.

ProFonds is the only association in Switzerland that unites promotional and operational, self-financed and donation-financed organizations from a wide variety of fields and thus sets itself apart from the other umbrella organization Swissfoundations . The umbrella organization was founded in 1990 as a working group for charitable foundations (AGES) and has been called proFonds since 2003. The organization currently has over 400 members from all parts of Switzerland. Membership is open to charitable foundations and associations as well as other legal and natural persons interested in the association's purposes. In 2001, the Swissfoundations split from ProFonds due to internal disputes.

Activities, goals

The organization represents the interests of non-profit foundations and associations in Switzerland vis-à-vis the public, politics and administration. A particular concern is the maintenance and adequate further development of a free and practicable foundation, association and tax non-profit law. The umbrella association promotes the exchange of knowledge and experience in the non-profit sector and supports the networking of the foundations with one another. He organizes the annual specialist conference “The Swiss Foundation Day”, is the editor of a series of publications on the Swiss foundation and non-profit system and is in contact with other organizations with similar objectives in Switzerland and abroad. ProFonds was an expert involved in drawing up the Swiss NPO code for NPOs . ProFonds is regularly asked to comment on legislative revisions to non-profit organizations.

The umbrella organization is led by a 7-member board. As the successor to Bernhard Hahnloser, François Geinoz has been president of the association since 2013, who heads the Zurich Limmat Foundation as managing director and is a member of the Catholic personal prelature Opus Dei . Christoph Degen is the managing director. The proFonds office is located in Basel . The organization also has an Antenne romande in Geneva .

In 2005 and 2009, Christoph Degen received the “Elite Foundation Experts in German-Speaking Area” award.
