Professor Mobilux is a 16-part radio play series that was published from 1987 to 1990 by the audio book publisher Europa . The series was published under the auspices of the Playmobil company . The stories of the author HG Francis form the basis for the plots .
The radio play series was distributed under the title Professor Mobilux for episodes one to six and 13 to 16 , and episodes seven to twelve under Patrick F. Patrick . In these episodes, Mobilux only appeared as a narrator. The first edition of episodes seven and eight were numbered as episodes one and two, with the second edition they were renumbered. At the same time, Playmobil also published versions of the characters of the two protagonists.

The stories tell the adventures of Professor Mobilux and his assistant Patrick F. Patrick, who happened to come into possession of the Indian wood on a trip through the Wild West. It is a crooked piece of wood, black and notched (as Professor Mobilux describes it). Since in the first episode the bandit Joe Bonecrash wants to steal the Indian wood , which has magical abilities, Mobilux disguises it as the handle of his umbrella. In the course of the story, Mobilux and Patrick recognize that they are “skating” through time and space when they turn this handle. The two of them then begin a tour through many of the Playmobil play worlds that were current at the time.
The first six episodes are about Mobilux and Patrick, but due to an accident with the Indian wood, Mobilux is trapped somewhere outside of time and space for a while. Patrick meets the Mexican Pedro, with whom he will continue the journey from now on, in the hope of finding the professor again. From episode 13 Patrick is back on the road with Mobilux, although both his return and Pedro's whereabouts remain unclear.
In the first episodes, the impression is given that the two protagonists come from the world of the 19th century, which, however, no longer fits together with details in other episodes: The two are not surprised by the new technology of places in the future (e.g. helicopters, automobiles or amusement parks), Patrick is also familiar with modern races and Mobilux reveals in an episode that he was a motorcyclist in his youth.

- Professor Oktavius Mobilux
Professor of paleontology , comes from Europe (it is not defined more precisely) and is considered one of the most respected scientists there. Due to an accident caused by Patrick while skating through space and time , he gets stuck in a kind of space between space and time at the beginning of episode seven. It appears again in episode 13 without any further explanation of this appearance. His trademarks are his purple lapels on his jacket and his top hat with a purple ribbon.
- Patrick F. Patrick
He is Mobilux's assistant and always wears white gloves, as this is the custom on St. Patrick's Day , but he doesn't know when that day is exactly. He is Irish and moved from Europe to “escape the teachers and their many questions”. Noticeable about him (apart from the white gloves) are his white bow tie , his many freckles on his face and his brown bowler .
- Pedro Juan Maria Movimiento
Alkalde (i.e. mayor) of the village of San Antonio, Mexico. He describes himself as the rightful heir to Indian wood. He only appears in episodes seven through twelve after being dragged along during the skating accident at the beginning of episode seven. After episode twelve he no longer appears, his whereabouts are not explained. His constant companion is his vulture Paolo .
