Proclamandum

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

As proclamandum , also notifications , in the Catholic Church, the announcements during the service, most often the Holy Mass , are called.

Contents can be the order of worship , reference to the deceased of the congregation, announcements of the diocese , announcements of events and the like.

The place for the "short announcements to the people, if any are to be made" is in the applicable basic order for the celebration of Holy Mass between the prayer after communion ("closing prayer") and the closing rites with blessings and a call for discharge. In some parishes, the proclamandum is read out before mass. The reports are presented by the priest or deacon , often also by a lecturer .

Often the proclamandum is also displayed in the showcases of the community and is available on the website of the community.

history

Reports can already be proven in the 5th century. In the Quatemberg service at the end of the sermon, Pope Leo the Great remembered the fast days of the coming week. The calendar of saints for the next few days was explained from the late Middle Ages until the 20th century. In the Roman station service around the 7th century, the archdeacon announced the announcements after the greeting of peace and before the beginning of the giving of communion - commonenda est plebs “The people should be reminded / prompted / admonished” - since the non- communicants withdraw from the service from that point on were allowed to. The topics of the reports were the next station service, upcoming martyrs' festivals and fast days as well as other church news.
