Protectors - Auf Leben und Tod (Original title: Livvagterne ) is an award-winning Danish crime series , which was broadcast there in 2 seasons of 10 parts each. The series was produced by the Danish public broadcaster DR in cooperation with ZDF .
action
The plot revolves around bodyguards of a Copenhagen special unit of the Danish police . The bodyguards are each entrusted with guarding a particularly endangered person out of politics or the public interest and must ensure that nothing happens to the person entrusted to them. While each episode is basically about the solution of a case, it is also about current trends in Danish society, such as B. dealing with religious minorities, Islamism, women in a community of men like the special task force etc. The series belongs to the group of high quality and lavishly shot Scandinavian productions ( Scandinavian Noir ) like Wallander or the Millennium trilogy by Stieg Larsson .
format
A season consists of ten episodes each 55 minutes in length. For the first broadcast, ZDF combined two episodes into one and shortened these double episodes to 101 to 109 minutes each.
The individual cases were broadcast on ZDF in the Sunday crime series at 10 p.m. On average, over two million viewers followed the German premieres.
