Przezmark (German: Preußisch Mark , formerly Preuschmark ) is a village in the rural municipality Elbląg ( Elbing ) in the Powiat Elbląski of the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .

Geographical location

Przezmark is located about 9 kilometers southeast of the city of Elbląg , on the Elbingschen Höhe and 25 kilometers from the Frischen Haff . The village is located at an altitude of about 116 meters above sea level. The north-eastern border between Poland and Russia is about 40 kilometers away.

history

The similar sounding older place names of Preußisch Mark , such as Pruyszmarck or Preuschmark , are traced back to the fact that the old parish village Preussisch Mark used to be a well-known trading center, a ' Prussian market '.

Before the end of the Second World War , Prussian Mark belonged to the district of Elbing in the Reichsgau Danzig-West Prussia , administrative district of Danzig . The main source of income for the place was agriculture. In 1939 the village had 246 inhabitants.

The region became Polish after the end of the war and the village was named Przezmark . As a result of flight and displacement , the population is now Polish. The village currently has about 120 inhabitants.
