The Wysoczyzna Elbląska (German Elbinger Höhe , also Trunzer Berge ) is one to almost 198  m above sea level. NN high mountain range south of the Fresh Lagoon in the Polish Warmian-Masurian Voivodeship .

geography

The partially forested Elbinger Höhe is located immediately northeast of Elbląg (Elbing) . There it lies directly east of the Elbinger lowlands , at the northern end of which the Nogat and Elbląg (Elbing) flow into the southwestern part of the Frischer Haff, or just a little east of the Werder Żuławy Wiślane (Vistula-Nogat Delta) , at the northern end of which the Vistula opens into the same lagoon area. The best known elevation of the Elbinger Höhe is the Milejewska Góra (Butterberg, Góra Maślana) near Milejewo (Trunz) .

The Elbinger Höhe was created in its current form in the most recent, the Vistula Ice Age, through the inland ice advancing from the north . At its core it is a compression moraine . The extent to which parts of the ridge were formed during older ice advances cannot be reliably proven. Large parts of the plateau are now occupied by ground moraine areas, and drumlins also occur.
