Pseudolais is a genus in the shark catfish family, which includes the two species : Pseudolais micronemus and Pseudolais pleurotaenia . Both are found in Southeast Asia in the Mekong and other rivers and are fished commercially.

The genus Pseudolais , often referred to with the younger synonym Pteropangasius , was separated from the genus Pangasius due to morphological and molecular differences, but is sometimes still listed as a subgenus. In addition to the typical body structure of the shark catfish with a scaly, elongated body, short dorsal fin with spines and long anal fin, the genus Pseudolais is characterized by a number of features: The trunk is keeled along the entire length of the abdomen . The eyes are big. The body has two strips on the flanks along the side line that meet at the base of the pectoral fins . One swim bladder is four-lobed with a segmented fourth lobe.
