Pseudolais pleurotaenia is a species of fish in the genus Pseudolais within the shark catfish family. The species is found in the Mae Nam Chao Phraya , Mae Nam Mae Klong , Mae Nam Tapi, and Mekong river systems in Thailand , Cambodia , Laos, and Vietnam , and plays a minor role in commercial fisheries.

Pseudolais pleurotaenia reaches a body length of 30 to 35 cm. His eyes are big. The abdomen is keeled along its entire length from the throat to the anal fin . On the flanks run two stripes, along the sideline and below, that arise at the base of the pectoral fins . The caudal fin usually has a clear stripe per lobe. The dorsal fin is relatively far forward on the body and has one clearly toothed hard and seven soft rays. The pelvic fins are small, the anal fin is elongated and has 39 to 46 rays. The species has an oval field of teeth on each side of the palatine bone . The first arch of the gill trap has 14 to 18 rays.

Way of life

The species colonizes fast and slow flowing parts of main and tributaries. It feeds on insects and plant material. Spawn is found in the Mekong all year round.
