PSYCHE - magazine for psychoanalysis and its applications is the only German monthly magazine for psychoanalysis .

The magazine was published in 1947 by Alexander Mitscherlich , Felix Schottlaender and Hans Kunz under the title Psyche. A yearbook for depth psychology and human studies in research and practice was founded. In 1956 it was renamed the Journal of Psychological and Medical Human Studies. In 1966 she received the subtitle for psychoanalysis and its applications .

According to its self-image, the journal should present the current state of psychoanalysis, psychoanalytic research, theory formation, methodology and treatment technology and depict and discuss the different currents of today's psychoanalysis.

The magazine was published 1947-1950 by Lambert Schneider in Heidelberg. From 1951 it was published by Ernst Klett Verlag , and since 1978 it has been published by Klett-Cotta Verlag . 10 monthly issues and a double issue (September / October) appear per year. According to the publisher (2020), the circulation is 4,700 copies. The editors have been: Johannes Picht , Susanne Döll-Hentschker, Vera King , Stefanie Sedlacek, Rolf-Peter Warsitz and Herbert Will since August 2018 . The editorial management lies with Dominic Angeloch.

In 2006, an anonymous peer review process was introduced in which over 30 external reviewers are involved. The editions are also available digitally and are indexed in the higher-level databases for scientific journals.

Klett-Cotta commissioned Psychosozial-Verlag to keep all PSYCHE issues from the years 1947 to 2009, that is, the years 1–63, available in the original or as a reprint. Around 3,000 articles were published in around 700 issues during this period. They can be researched in the PSYCHE archive on the website of the Psychosozial Verlag and can be ordered as individual articles or as a booklet.
